A faithful proponent of the bachelor’s life, Albion sees himself becoming the confidante of Lewis Monck, a good friend who develops a strong attachment for Miss Emília Menezes, daughter of a wealthy Portuguese diplomat.

Whilst trying to provide the best guidance to his friend, Albion is far from imagining that his own feelings may be endangered. Rosana is the impoverished Menezes cousin turned governess. Defiant, deviant of society norms, occasionally meddlesome and always terribly stubborn, she is, at once, trouble and joy, heartache and bliss – and the first serious threat to Albion’s heart.
